3 months and counting

Emilia turned 3 months on Sunday. This age is, I guess, some sort of a milestone in baby life (and parenting life), and so it is good to take a moment to reflect.

What was it again..? Oh, yes. "Your life is going to change." Indeed. The daily grind for me is mostly the same - work is work - but the evenings and weekends are very much about being tied up at home with our sweetie. Maria's life, of course, did a complete change into a parallel universe from a full time researcher into mostly full time mom. We took our first trip to Manhattan as a family on Saturday to join the celebrations for Jari's birthday (we did not join the pre-dinner boozing or post-dinner boozing, just the dinner). From leaving home to being back home it took us seven hours, and out of that we actually saw our friends for about two. Got to take it slow with the little one. Of course our lives changed completely.

What else? "Better sleep now before she arrives." Actually, the biggest surprise is that I am sleeping great. That is of course due to Maria taking care of the nightly duties (I do not have the proper equipment now, do I), but also Emilia being recently very considerate towards our sleeping needs. Hope this still stays for a while at least. You never know.

Oh yes. The big comment, of course: "It is going to be so great for you guys". What else can I say. It is amazing, just an amazing time. I still melt every time she smiles at me (which happens every time she looks at me, except when she is in a bad mood, I am extremely proud to report). I still get a high still every time with how she quiets and relaxes in my arms when crying (which happens most of the time, I am equally proud to report). I still most nights stop to stare at her when she sleeps. I am still so ridiculously happy when I get her to show a new skill or learn something new (like finding her own left foot, or producing new types of babbles). My girl. It is, indeed, so great.
