At this point I am so glad I am the man. I do feel jealous as the little lady-in-the-tummy will not grant me a even a little kick, not when I am trying to feel her kicks. But there will certainly be later time for that. For all the other purposes, the man sure gets the long straw. No need to go into the dirty details.
Still, I think that also the male body starts preparing for the imminent parenthood, at least on the deep mental level. A funny thing that happened last week when I was preparing for the long ride home at Helsinki airport. I heard a baby cry, clearly a very small baby - the cry is pretty unique, really real, for a newborn. I suddenly felt real strongly for the little guy, who obviously was not at all happy with his/her world at the moment. I have loved babies for quite long time, but this was something new. Either a product of the personal baby journey, or then an artifact of the exhaustion due to jet lag and several nights with only a few hours of sleep. Either way.
We are proceeding on the road of equipping as well. Last Saturday was a milestone on the stroller front: a conclusion on the superiority of a New Zealandese $400 stroller model. With a nice bright green color. With this one, I think I'll rank comfortably high in the engineerish fathers' tech spec stroller comparison discussions (you know, "look how handy mechanism for folding mine has", or "look at how smartly these wheels turn", or "you know, this material is actually used in real Formula 1s"...).
Diaper insight accumulates as well. I now understand that a wool diaper holds water (or any liquid for that matter) better than plastic ones. This comes from a real user, so I have to believe (a mom, not the USER. Duh.)

Please don't get dissappointed if the woollen diaper covers do not hold the pee 100% at the very beginning :-) It will...
