One moment of combined development milestone and fatherly pride was when we were for the first time playing the piano together last weekend. For the first time in the sense that Emilia was playing as well - of course there has been a lot of playing with her listening for the fun. I had her in my arms, playing random tunes, and for the first time she decided to join the fun, pushing keys herself, clearly in reaction to what I was doing. It was so brilliantly exciting for her to hear the notes. So cool, when this kind of imitating starts to happen.
Looking at the picture, a lesson in parenting comes to mind. Bibs. When we got a big load of clothes as a gift from Judy and Antti about two months ago, we were slightly confused at the bibs - like the one you see in the picture. I mean, they were clearly too small to be used in a future feeding frenzy situation when food gets ejected into all kinds of directions. So what were they good for? Well, we learned very fast, it turned out. She started drooling a lot. Like a geyser, most of the times. And it still goes on (and no teeth yet). The pace is several bibs a day. This was one of those things, btw, that my fathering books failed to draw my attention to, or then our baby is an exceptionally talented in the droolinary arts.
